What is the Lencioni model?

The Lencioni model is a management framework that identifies five dysfunctions in organizations and provides tools to overcome those dysfunctions.

The Lencioni model is a framework for building successful organizations. It was created by Patrick Lencioni and is based on his book The Five Dysfunctions of a Team: A Leadership Fable, which outlines the five dysfunctions that can occur in teams and how to solve them.

The model has two parts:

The first part is about building a cohesive team. To do this, you must build trust among your team members, make sure the needs of the team are being met, create a clear understanding of what success looks like for the team, and ensure that everyone has buy-in from the top down.

The second part is about creating a culture where employees feel comfortable taking risks because they trust that they'll be supported if they fail—and successful if they succeed. In order to create this kind of culture, you have to have an organization-wide commitment to innovation and growth; provide training that allows people new ideas and skills; share information throughout your organization so everyone knows what's going on at all times; encourage open communication between departments; hold regular meetings where employees can raise concerns or suggestions without fear of retribution; keep employees informed about company goals and progress toward achieving those goals; hold managers accountable for meeting their own goals; provide feedback.

The Lencioni model is a set of management practices that can help organizations to become more effective.

The process starts with identifying the symptoms that indicate that your organization is not performing as well as it could be. Then, you have to identify the root cause of those symptoms. You'll need to think about why those problems are happening, and how they might be prevented in the future.

You can then create an action plan for making changes in your organization—and make sure that everyone on staff understands how they should be implemented. Finally, you need to hold yourself accountable: make sure you're doing what you said you were going to do!

The five dysfunctions are:

  1. Absence of Trust

  2. Fear of Conflict

  3. Lack of Commitment

  4. Avoidance of Accountability

  5. Inattention to Results

What are the five dysfunctions of a team in Lencioni model?

The five dysfunctions of a team in Lencioni model are:

  1. Absence of Trust: Team members don't trust each other and don't feel safe to say what they really think.

  2. Fear of Conflict: Team members avoid conflict and pretend that everything is okay, even when it's not.

  3. Lack of Commitment: Team members aren't fully committed to the team or its goals. They may be committed to their own personal agendas instead.

  4. Avoidance of Accountability: Team members do not hold each other accountable for results or behaviors, but instead look externally for reasons why something went wrong or didn't happen as planned (e.g., blame customers).

  5. Inattention to Results: Team members are so busy getting along that they forget about delivering results!
